Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay Brut Grand Cru. 90/100
The NV Brut Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs is 100% Chardonnay from Ambonnay, a Grand Cru village mainly known as a great terroir for Pinot Noir. The citrus-colored wine was kept on the lees for 72 months and offers a deep, complex nose of nougat and brioche, white fruits, flowers and terroir. Full-bodied, profound, fruit-intense and very elegant, this rich, well balanced and silky textured champagne develops a remarkable freshness, purity and salinity. The wine is long and multi-faceted, and should be a thrilling drinking experience over 4-5 years. I tasted from Lot 14019.
Collection Privée Brut Grand Cru. 92/100
Made from 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir (both from Ambonnay; 90% 2008 and 10% 2009 vintage) and aged on the lees for 72 months, the limited NV Brut Grand Cru Collection Privée is a rich and complex selection of the best parcels and barrels (20% oak here). Pure, complex, refreshing mineral, and fruity aromas on the nose lead to a very dry and full-bodied though vibrant, firmly structured and persistent champagne with a good yet still somewhat drying length. Very expressive and provided with good aging potential. The wine was disgorged in October 2014 with a dosage of five grams per liter.
Perle Noire Brut Grand Cru. 91/100
Made from 100% Pinot Noir from Ambonnay, the NV Brut Grand Cru Perle Noire is a gastronomic Blanc de Noirs Champagne. The current cuvée is entirely based on 2006 and was disgorged October 2014 with a dosage of seven grams. Yellow-golden in color, the wines starts clear and fruit intense on the nose, also revealing a very nice purity and minerality. Full-bodied, complex and dry on the palate, this is an expressive and persistent champagne with character that wants to be drunk from a bigger glass with veal, chicken or Parmesan cheese.
Rosé Brut Grand Cru. 92/100
The NV Brut Grand Cru Rosé is a rosé de saignée from 100% old vines Pinot Noir and it is quite dark in its garnet red color. The red fruits-displaying bouquet is absolutely delicious: fruit intense and deep, very clearly articulated and fresh, and it develops with aeration. After 60 months in the cellar, this is a full-bodied and flavored sparkling red of great elegance, balance, intensity and delicate expression. It’s almost drinking like red Burgundy, but should be drunk young.
Signature Brut Grand Cru. 90/100
The NV Brut Grand Cru Signature is an assemblage of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, currently based on the 2007 vintage and 30% of reserve wines of 2006 and 2005. The wine was kept on the lees for 60 months for the second fermentation and was disgorged in October 2014. Rich, ripe and intense on the nose, this full-bodied, elegant and expressive terroir-driven champagne has a good length and is recommended by the domaine to be drunk in the next two years. However, I think it can age much longer.
